Discover why so many have chosen to call Longleaf home!
The Longleaf community at Callaway Gardens was developed with a vision to create a tranquil residential neighborhood that harmonizes with the natural beauty of Callaway Gardens. The idea of integrating a living space within the gardens aligns with the original vision of Cason and Virginia Callaway, who sought to build a space where nature and people could coexist in harmony.
In the early 2000s, the concept of Longleaf became a reality when Cousins Properties, a prominent real estate developer, partnered with Callaway Gardens to create this 75-acre community. Longleaf was designed with a commitment to environmental stewardship, ensuring that more than 30% of the land was preserved as open space. Additionally, the homes in Longleaf follow EarthCraft Community standards, focusing on sustainability and green building practices.
The community, which began construction in 2003, offers not only homes but also amenities like a free-form swimming pool, walking trails, and access to the natural beauty of Callaway Gardens. Residents also benefit from exclusive access to the gardens and special events, making it a unique place to live. The land on which Longleaf sits was once an experimental nursery for over 26 years, contributing to the area’s rich horticultural history.
